I'm so impressed and...well, overwhelmed with how this forum has exploded onto the scene! To be honest, it started as one lonely guys attempt to reach out to other scared, intimidated individuals at USD. Now however, I'm realizing the full potential of the Closet Project. We truly can become that resource for closeted or questioning men and women at our University!
If you've explored this forum, then you have read the absolutely incredible stories from many different people, with different backgrounds, and vastly different experiences. However, each one is connected by this similar thread: by coming out or internally accepting their identity, their attitude towards life has improved dramatically. Once they've started that LONG journey towards self-acceptance, the bright light of life just shines stronger and stronger.
So I guess what this is right here is a favor I'm asking. From an anonymous friend to my brand new anonymous friends...let's blow this baby up! Maybe casually bring the Closet Project up in coversation? Bring up the awesome Vista article that Colleen Dunn wrote (way to go by the way, you truly are an incredible ally and friend)?
No matter what you do, just try and spread the word. Who knows what this online community of support can accomplish? If we help just one Torero to become more comfortable with himself or herself, then we have succeeded my friends.
"We are all longing to go home to some place we have never been -- a place half-remembered and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free."
